How it works
1. Discovery Call
We’ll have a short call to discuss your goals, desired format, and content you’d like me to cover. After that, I’ll create a proposal detailing the event, preparation and follow up.
2. Preparation
We’ll work together as needed to prepare for the event – on content customized to your team, structuring workshops, coordination with panelists, etc.
3. Delivery
I prefer in-person events, as I believe the connections formed in them lead to improved outcomes. I do, however, lead online ones, mostly when it enables formats that wouldn’t be practical otherwise.
4. Event follow up
If relevant for your event, I’ll participate in the post-event follow up we’ll plan together.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What do you charge?I charge a flat monthly rate based on the expected commitment you’ll need from me, understanding that the actual time we’ll spend together will vary. I aim to find a package that meets the needs and budget of each client. These can be adjusted over time as your needs change.
-
What questions can I ask you?I’ve helped founders and executives with just about anything: product strategy, structuring commercial and M&A deals, negotiations, hiring and firing, organizational structure, planning layoffs, fundraising, and leadership challenges. We sometimes also discuss personal issues that come up – since life is unexpected. I have broad experience with startups, and I’m an expert in organizing your thinking about topics, even when they’re new to me. The point of working with me is that you’ll have someone to discuss the most pressing matters with, regardless of what they are.
-
When is the best time to hire you? There’s no single right time. In many cases, the trigger is an opportunity - you’re taking on a new role or project, or your company is at a turning point and you need to do something you’ve never done before. In other cases, the trigger could be a challenge - you’re stuck, or your company is not doing well, and you’re looking for a way to move forward.
-
What if I need you for more time than we planned for?I assume some variability, so you’re always comfortable reaching out to me and not concerned about the bill. If you’d like me to take on a special project beyond our agreed-upon commitment, we’ll discuss separate pricing.
-
Are you available to travel?I’m based in Rochester, NY, and travel regularly to NYC. I work remotely with clients in other locations. I’m happy to travel to additional locations if it makes sense for both of us.
